Least Concern (LC) , assessed in 02/05/2019Sparattosyce dioica is an endemic tree, commonly known as "Faux figuier" largely distributed in Grande Terre, from Yaté to Poami. This species occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary and ultramafic substrate up to 990 m asl. This species is common and does not seem threatened. Therefore with an extent of occurrence (EOO) equal to 9,224 km² and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 332 km², S. dioica is assessed as Least Concern (LC).
Geographical area
Sparattosyce dioica is endemic to New Caledonia where it is widely distributed in Grande Terre, from Yaté to Poami.
Population
Population size is unknown.
Habitat
Sparattosyce dioica occurs in dense humid forest on volcano-sedimentary and ultramafic substrate up to 1,000 m asl.
Threats
This species does not seem globally threatened.
Conservation
Sparattosyce dioica is not protected by legislation in New Caledonia but it does occur in several protected areas: Foret Nord, Montagne des sources, la Dumbéa, Haute Yaté, Aoupinié, Barrage de Yaté, Forêt cachée, Haute Dumbéa, Rivière bleue, Pic du grand Kaori, Nodela.
